This brief was to design a new logo for a Charlotte, a celebrity published hair and makeup artist with an amazing talent. Charlotte graduated from university with a very high demand of clients, and found herself in need of a logo and studio signage for her new salon.
To build the logo, I began with the name of Charlotte’s business “Charlotte Marie Makeover Studio” a name element being the signature of the logo was best suited to a script style font. I we selected Boucherie Cursive for its handwritten feel. Charlotte had asked for gold and rose gold to feature in the logo and also wanted the final element to be the title of the nature of her business, a makeover studio.
It was helpful to have starting point for the colour with the clients request of gold and/or rose gold and the element of makeup and flesh tones. The colour pallet consists of the main two primary colours and two secondary pallets for the flesh tones and purple and pink hues to signify makeup.
The design of the logo came out of the concept of smashed or dropped makeup powder, like foundation or blusher. The trend of imagery for makeup was vibrant colours on a clean white surface so I replicated that using non-uniform spots of colour. The logo works perfectly, centred with the type element aligned to the centre.
These are some examples of further usage of the final logo design. This included business card and banner print design.
