Lefkosa Northern Cyprus

8th October 2016

Currently on a family holiday in northern Cyprus and this will be my fourth visit since being a child and it has changed so dramatically in 20 years. There are now motorway like carriageways running from  where we are staying in Bellapais, to Lefkosa. Places that once had just dotted buildings along the road and now full with building after building. I’m actually struggling to get my barings from what I remember as a child.

We decided to take a trip to the markets and the centre of Lefkosa where a lot of the buildings and surroundings are still the same. I took a particular fascination with the old carved doors some of them are still used and the houses they belong still lived in. Some of these doors, my father explained are hundreds of years old and still standing.
